On the Road: Day 2

Mom shared an epiphany she had during this morning's meditation. She read me a text she sent to her realtor two days earlier that said how she felt emotionally "ungrounded" after she sold her car and her house, but that she now felt "light" and that it was "invigorating". Our meditation today had the mantra, "I am strong, I am grounded, I am rooted in my being." She started crying because she realized that her grounding needs to come from within. External things should never be our identities, they should never be our roots, they should not define us nor weigh us down.

Looking at your life, do you have things that are weighing you down? Do you feel trapped by your stuff? By your relationships? Maybe it is time to reevaluate where you find worth. Now, I'm not saying you are going to retire, rid yourself of everything you own, and move to Mexico like I am, but small changes can have a large impact. What can you do to find your happiness?

Anyway, back to the travels.

Today was a crazy long day. I drove 697 miles from Birmingham, AL to Weatherford, TX. It was supposed to take 10 hours, but ended up taking a whopping 12 HOURS!!! Dallas traffic SUCKS (and I say that as one who has driven in LA, NYC, and DC). Definitely not going to do this again. I am going to break up our trip into shorter sections. I prefer to be less ambitious with the number of miles travelled and more happy with the miles that we travel.

Here are some of the sights we had today. Remember my mom? The cute one? Well, she is the photographer on this trip and she is the most technically challenged person I have ever met. Most photo attempts are her frantically grabbing for her phone, frenetically tapping it as the scene passes by at 80mph, and then her bemoaning the lost photo op. So, we will celebrate her success and enjoy a few of her other attempts... (Oops.... She missed the "Welcome to Mississippi" sign, but we were there... PROMISE)

Until tomorrow :)

As always, remember to take a leap and choose JOY!!

(We do our daily meditations with Boho Beautiful and I HIGHLY recommend them - here is a link to the one we did today - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DkKGTgYt5Dk)
